'I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me.' If you were to come across Jesus Christ Himself and He asked you to help Him, to feed Him or to clothe Him, would any one of us even hesitate to do all we could to help Him? Yet, this is exactly how Christ tells us to see the “least of these” among us. Hearts and Hands was founded as a ministry of The Word to feed the hungry, clothe those who are cold and to be an encouragement to all people within the church and within the community in which we are located. Our goal is to be a beacon of light into the community in which God has entrusted to us; to be Christ’s HEART and HANDS to those in need. We believe Christians ought to show the love of God, not just by their words, but also by their deeds. We have several programs right now beginning with our… - Food Pantry – collecting, then distributing non-perishable food
- Clothing Closet – distributing clothing to victims of disaster, or those dealing with a sudden losing of income
- Card Program – sending get well, encouragement and thank you cards to those going through difficult times
- Meal program – delivery of meals to those families in which an individual is laid up due to sickness or injury.
- Home services – providing light cleaning, shopping, home visits, etc. to home bound people or those laid up.
- Baskets of Hope – inspirational gift baskets delivered to encourage those during difficult times.
We strive to love God by loving people in tangible ways: within our church family, extended family, and our community. Won’t you join us in this important work as if you were serving Jesus himself? Because as He tells us…we are! ABOUT LEIGH Director, Leigh MacKelvey, founded Hearts and Hands after being house bound for 5 months with a broken leg due to an accident. During that time, members of The Word Church provided meals and many cards were sent as encouragement. Having lots of time to be alone with the Lord and after much praying, she was led to begin this ministry of actively serving others.
