The Word holds the following Statement of Faith as being a summary of Christian doctrine whose authority consists only in its agreement with the canonized Word of God, (Genesis through Revelation), as recognized by the governing body of The Word. Click here to download our Statement of Faith
I. The True God We believe there is only one God and that He eternally exists in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit. We believe that He created and rules the universe. He loves you and has a wonderful plan for your life.
Ephesians 4:4-6; Philippians 1:6
II. Jesus Christ We believe Jesus to be the one and only Son of God, co-equal with the Father. We believe in His virgin birth, His sinless life, His death on the cross, His bodily resurrection after three days and in His future, imminent, personal return. Our only means of salvation is through Him.
John 1:1-14; John 14:6; Acts 4:12
III. The Holy Spirit We believe the Holy Spirit to be equal with the Father and the Son of God (Jesus). He exists to convict the world of sin and dwells in those who place their faith and trust in Jesus Christ as Lord. He then teaches, guides, directs, comforts and secures those who believe.
John 14-16; II Corinthians 1:21-22; Romans 8:38,39
IV. The Scriptures We believe the canonized Bible (Genesis through Revelation) to be the inspired, the only infallible, authoritative Word of God written by human authors under the guidance and direction of the Holy Spirit. We believe it to be the supreme source of truth.
Psalm 119; II Timothy 3:16; II Peter 1:20
V. Salvation We believe salvation to be by God's grace alone. Salvation comes through repentance from sin, belief in the death, burial and resurrection of Christ, and the confession of Jesus as Lord.
Romans 10:9, 10; Ephesians 2:8,9; Colossians 1:21, 22
VI. The Church We believe the church, as established by Christ, to be individuals united together for the purpose of using their gifts, talents, abilities and passions in fulfilling the vision of praying, evangelizing, teaching, training, encouraging, and sending out prepared believers to do likewise.
Romans 12:4, 5; I Corinthians 12:27; Ephesians 4:11-13
